Prohibition of Engaging Non-Nepalese People at Work

According to the Labor Act 2017 of Nepal, foreign nationals cannot be employed in Nepal without prior approval. An employer must prove that no qualified Nepali worker is available for the position before hiring a foreign national. Approval from the Department of Labor is required, and the work permit is generally valid for a maximum of 5 years. The government aims to prioritize employment for Nepali citizens and prevent unauthorized foreign labor. Employing non-Nepalese workers without permission is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
