In the light of increasing violence and harassment including domestic violence, rape and other violence against women, UNI Nepal and Your Voice Matters jointly organized a protest against violence and harassment. It put forward five points demands and urged the government to ensure the security of women.
1. Under no circumstances should the perpetrators of all rape-related incidents be acquitted and reconciled. Let absolute justice be supreme in rape.
2. Rape tears the soul, not the body. Provide justice for the victims as well as mental and social rehabilitation.
3. Convention 190 on Violence against Women should be ratified immediately and information on violence against women should be included in the curriculum from the school level.
4. Amend the laws against violence making it harsher and guarantee its strict implementation
5. Create an environment where women can walk safely and unhindered in every corner of the country.
