UNI global union is the global trade union federation of the workers in the service sectors. It was established on 1 January 2000 as a consequence of merger of four global unions FIET, CI, MEI and IGF. It’s head office is in Nyon, Switzerland. It has more than 900 affiliate unions in more than 150 countries that represent 20 million members worldwide. UNI is network that promotes international cooperation between affiliated unions so that they can better deal with increasing multinational employer and international institution. It also encourages solidarity across the borders, raises issues of common concern with employers, government and international bodies and promotes trade union rights.
It comprises four regional offices in America, Europe, Asia & pacific and Africa respectively.
